Service Description
This College of Block Management (CBM) course provides RMC and RTM directors with a practical framework for overseeing their managing agent and ensuring that services are delivered effectively, transparently, and in line with expectations. Appointing a managing agent is only the first step. Many directors are unclear on how to monitor performance, what they should expect to receive, and how to ensure that their agent is fulfilling its contractual obligations. Without clear oversight, boards can quickly lose visibility and control. This session focuses on establishing a structured approach to governance. You will learn how to define and implement meaningful key performance indicators (KPIs), understand the importance of a well-drafted management agreement, and ensure that reporting, communication, and compliance processes are working as they should. The course also covers how to review performance in practice, identify early warning signs of underperformance, and address issues constructively. It provides directors with the tools to move from a reactive relationship to a more professional and accountable working arrangement. By the end of the session, you will have a clear framework for: • Monitoring your managing agent’s performance • Setting and using KPIs effectively • Understanding and enforcing the management agreement • Maintaining oversight of key areas including compliance, finance, and communication • Managing performance issues in a structured and professional way This course is designed to give directors the confidence to retain control, improve accountability, and ensure their managing agent is delivering the standard of service their building requires.
